2nd Grade

For second grade (August 2000) I was still at Orchard. It was getting really hard for me because I am still in a regular classroom. My teacher and the resource room teacher tried to help me, but they have have not had a kid like me before. My Mommy is trying to work with the school to make sure I get the best education that I can.

For Halloween I dressed up like a doctor! Dr. Kummer helped me with some stuff for my costume. Mommy and Daddy dressed up like my patients! They had fake cuts and bruises. They looked funny. At the mall they had a Holloween party for special needs kids and I got to go. It was neat. I even won a prize for my costume! I was so excited. I didn't go trick or treating in our neighborhood, it was way too cold. We did go to the mall and got candy there. My friend Adea came too and she was dressed up like Blue from Blue's Clues! We both love Blue's Clues!

For Thanksgiving 2000 Mommy, Daddy, and I got to go to Memphis Tennessee and see my Grandma and Grandpa Dowdle! It was fun! I got to meet my Uncle Gardner and some other realitives too. We got to stay about a week. Maybe next time we can get Grandma and Grandpa Dowdle to come to our house.

Here I am being silly with my Daddy and my Grandma and Grandpa Dowdle. Grandma has a new electric wheel chair thing! She can get around good now! Maybe someday when I'm bigger she'll let me try driving it.
This picture has Daddy, Grandpa Dowdle, my Great-Uncle Hal in the back. Then me, Grandma Dowdle and Uncle Gardner.
Here is Daddy and me with my Great-Aunt LaVelle and Great-Uncle Joe
We had Christmas at my Grandma and Grandpa's house in Great Falls. I love Christmas. My Grandma got me this big ball type thing and I could even fit inside of it!

In the spring time we got to go to Disney On Ice! They had Toy Story! Mommy and I got to meet Woody in person! I was kind of scared because he was SOOOO tall!

For my 9th birthday in April I got to have a party at Chuck E. Cheese! Adea and her Mommy and Daddy came too. We had so much fun. Even my friend Kaydi came and of course Grandma and Grandpa Burton! The only bad thing was that on my actual birthday, April 11, I had to have my tonsils and adenoids taken out! That was NOT fun. But I'm really strong and only 6 hours after surgery I was eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich!

Mommy had to take me to Seattle again in the spring. We got to do some fun stuff too though. We went to the Pacific Science Center and also to the Children's Museum! I love science! I got to meet another boy who had PUVs and has had a kidney transplant. His name is Brian too! My Mommy e-mails with his Mommy! I really like him!

We even compaired scars! We both got our transplants on the right lower part of our tummies! We even had matching g-tubes!
During the school year my Mommy talked a lot with a lady that worked at PLUK (Parents Let's Unite for Kids). They work with families of children with special needs. A lot of time they help with school things, but they also have a huge library and have events for kids to do. At the beginning of summer I got to go to Zoo Montana with PLUK. We had so much fun. We pretended to be animals and make animal track casts. I even held a millipede! I didn't like the way it felt though and asked the lady to take it off my hands.

July 5, 2001 was my Great Grandma Burton's 85th birthday! We went to California with my Grandma and Grandpa Burton to go to Great Grandma's party!
We got to stay at my Mommy's cousin's house. They have a swimming pool in their back yard! And they have two kids that are close to my age, Travis and Emily. I think I liked swimming the best.

I liked to get out of the pool soaking wet and give Great Grandma and Great Grandpa a hug! They didn't mind!

While we were there, we got to go to Legoland! It was SOOOOOO fun! They had rides and everything looked like it was made of legos. They had tons of statues and miniture cities that were all made out of REAL legos!!!
