Post Transplant

A few weeks after the transplant, Montana had it's first annual transplant picnic in Helena Montana. There were a lot of people there who had gotten all kinds of transplants and even some donors. I was the only kid, but I loved all the attention I got! I even had my picture put into a calender! I was pretty puffy from the Prednisone I had to take. I still take it, but not as much.

I have been going to school since I was three. I was in a special ed. pre-school until I was 6 and then kindergarten, and special ed. also. My doctors thought that all of my developmental delays were because of my kidney failure, but soon after my trans plant, they started to think that it was something more. At first my pediatrician, Dr. Gerrity, gave me the diagnosis of Pervasive Developmental Disorder. Here is a picture of Dr. Gerrity and me. She took care of me for 6 long years. I miss her.

Since then I've had more testing and they thought I might have something called Asperger's Syndrome as well as Attention Deficeit Hyperactivity Disorder and Oppositional Defiant Disorder. My Mommy isn't real sure about that. You can call it whatever you want. I'm just extra special.

A year after my transplant we had to go back to UCLA to see the doctors. They thought I was doing great! I was lucky and my Mommy and Daddy got a Happy Hearts Day voucher for Disneyland! I still love that place!
